Dreamin’ of Blingin’

I got engaged about 15 years ago.  That is a long time in the world of fashion.

As a 24 year old I was a great believer in the gospel of Audrey Hepburn.  The Breakfast at Tiffanys line “But it’s tacky to wear diamonds before you’re forty” pretty much guided my engagement ring buying plans.  Because yes, although my husbands proposal to me was a complete surprise, there was no ring involved.  We shopped for that together (what a smart man he is, he knew me so well even then).  Together we decided that a 1930’s aquamarine was the ideal Katrina choice.

Unfortunately a number of years ago, during a volunteering session at school pancake day, that beautiful engagement ring went missing.  Probably not in the pancakes for those that are worried, because I don’t do cooking, but I am sure that some mother got an AMAZING mothers day present that year, and then proceeded to throw it in the back of the drawer not realising its worth.

But, as with everything Little Black Booth, this story has a happy ending.  Now it has come to the time that I get another engagement ring.

Audrey Hepburn is no longer my jewellery guru (although she really was quite the style goddess).  I am also *cough* nearing that 40th birthday.  So, DIAMONDS. ARE. A. GIRLS. BEST. FRIEND.

Help me people.  I have, all in the name of hard work for LBB of course, spent hours searching the internet for my perfect ring.  Note:  I did not mention perfect budget – I think any form of realistic spending went out the window upon first sight of THIS beauty.

 Pink Diamond Ring 1.

Which one of these wonders do I NEEEEEEEEED?

Perhaps a BLACK DIAMOND – oooh, a bit edgy and cool.

Black Diamond 2

Something a little more classic like this 1940s number?

1940s ring 4Should size be the consideration (certainly not budget)?

Great Big ring 6

How about looking at deco (in keeping with my wedding)?

Deco Ring 5

Or maybe I should return to something similar to the ring I had and LOVED?

Aquamarine Ring like KJH

This could be the SOLUTION.  I could get them all and wear them JUST. LIKE. THIS….

Where In The World Are You?????

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

For me, I would pick Europe, perhaps the south of France. Mmmmmm, cheese and French Champagne aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

If you were searching for the best school in the world for your children, where would you go?

For me, that would be Green School in Bali.

So following the ethos of Little Black Booth – embrace the fun, embrace the positive, embrace the creativity, embrace the CHANGE – we are now living in Seseh near Canggu in BALI baby ☺

But what about Little Black Booth? Where will I go for my boothing fix? I hear you ask. No need to worry, no need to fret.

Little Black Booth is still in the most capable hands of our FANTABULOUS client managers. Nikki in Victoria and Shane in Tasmania. They’ve been boothing for a while now, and they absolutely know the ropes. In fact, need to know ANYTHING about ANYTHING, Nikki and Shane can probably help you.

We still have the great team of people we have always had. It is a little fluid at times, as things often are. Staff step back for a bit to travel or have babies or take on some other adventure, but more often than not they return to us (they really do miss us – and you).

What does all of this really mean though? It means that I am now spending my day figuring out the best ways to help you party. Keeping you informed of the latest trends and cool things happening in the word of parties.

Basically I am going to be checking out all of the cool and pretty, whilst sitting by the pool, eating all the delicious and embracing the BALI 😉 Turns out I have been right all along BEST. JOB. IN. THE. WORLD!!!!!

If you have anything you want to know more about, let me know people. Throw some suggestions at me. I’m here, I’m back at work and I’m ready to help.

Bring it on!!!!!!!

You Super Hero You!

Scooby Doo

My entire childhood was spent without attending even ONE fancy dress party.  Oh, don’t get me wrong, I partied just like the rest of the 8 year olds of the time, with roller-skating parties, pass the parcel and occasionally even a bit of mini golf.

But then I started, many years later, attending 40th birthday parties, and then, only then, did I start to get my dress up on :)

To begin with, I was rather shy about it, that fairy party that I wore just my standard party frock with my daughters wings on as an afterthought was not my highlight I’m afraid.  But since then, oh the costumes I have worn.

So now, I am a convert.  I am in LOVE with the costume party.  Not only do I love getting to dress up myself, but seeing everyone else in their fancy get ups is simply SPECTACULAR.

But this is where it gets oh so much cooler.  Imagine attending that Super Hero birthday party, all glam and amazing, only to discover that you can have a photo landing a superb punch right on the chin of your arch nemesis.  Or maybe you could be puckering up and placing a kiss on Supermans cheek.

Well guess what, Little Black Booth can help you with that.  Your next party guest list could include the entire Justice League, Scooby Doo, and even the Loony Tunes.  But I can tell you now, they will be in the booth ALL NIGHT 😉

Just jump in the booth, pick your favourite Warner Brothers character and pose away.

P.S.  Did anyone pick up on the fact that I have a bit of a Wonder Woman fascination????

You Sweet Thing…..

Candy Buffet Photo 1

Here at Little Black Booth we know how much work is involved in getting an event together. Whether it be a wedding, kids party, 40th birthday or work function, it all takes lots of time, lots of attention to detail and lots of budgeting. But how can this be made easier?

Well, we have a way – one (great and reliable) supplier, two (fantastic and fun) products.

We can help you, not only with a wonderful photobooth experience, but also with a beautiful and glamorous candy buffet.

Now here is the great thing about it all. You get to reduce your stress by just dealing with us. One lot of forms to fill out, one lot of invoices to pay and one process to follow.

But here is the kicker. We are already going to be doing all of the administration, delivering, set up and pack up for your party anyway, so, we don’t need to charge you twice for it. Yep, that is right, we reduce your stress and your bottom line – can it get any better.

With a maximum price of $9 per person (dependent on the number of guests and the package required), a Little Black Booth candy buffet is now the best way to sweeten up your guests for one ripper of a party :)

Hmmmmm, We’ve been a little quiet!!

O.K., we have been a little quiet around here in blogger land, but let me tell you, that is mainly because we have been so very busy elsewhere.  But Spring is here (woohoo!!!!) and we are ready to get back to things around here :)

As usual, there have been HEAPS of wonderful events that we have been attending.  Lots of weddings, birthday parties, fundraisers, end of financial year parties, radio events and yesterday I even dressed as a princess to attend an in-store promotion!  I tell you things are never dull around Little Black Booth :)

But without a doubt, our most exciting adventure is our new branch in LAUNCESTON!  We figured that those wonderful Tasmanians should have the chance to experience the fun and excitement of a Little Black Booth too!  And guess what, not that we are surprised, but it is already a roaring success.

Dates are booking up fast for both Melbourne and Tasmania.  So if you are thinking of having a photobooth at your Christmas party or your summer wedding, then best to contact us at info@littleblackbooth.com.au nice and quick smart :)

We won an ABIA Award!!

L-R: Jessie (Little Black Booth), John (ABIA), Katrina (Little Black Booth)

Oh my golly gosh, the team at Little Black Booth are so very excited! We won the ‘Wedding Hire‘ category at the ABIA Awards last night with a score of 99.40%!! We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of the brides that rated us over the past 12 months, we are so humbled and incredibly grateful to you for taking the time to tell the world about us!

We’re so honoured when people choose a Little Black Booth to be part of their event, whether it’s a wedding, birthday or Christmas party. We’re a small, passionate team based on the Mornington Peninsula – we’re not a nationwide franchise system, nor a business that’s been around forever. In fact, Little Black Booth was only established in May 2011 so we feel that there is still so much to learn. What this space, Little Black Booth has so much more to offer!

Upon this high note, we’re shuffling things here at HQ! With things going crazy at LBB headquarters I (Jessie) am now handing the reins of Client Manager over to Katrina so that I can spend more time with my two gorgeous kids. However, because the LBB world is so addictive, I’ll be spreading the boothing love as a Little Black Booth host at weddings & events from now on. Very exciting!

So if you’re keen to add fun and laughter to your next event, don’t hesitate to contact Katrina on 0433 208 411 or info@littleblackbooth.com.au, she will be so very happy to hear from you!

Thank you from MS Research Australia

We just received the loveliest words from MS Research Australia! It was so exciting for Little Black Booth to be part of the ‘Kiss Goodbye to MS’ campaign on 1st May at Federation Square!

“Thank you for arranging the photo booth at the Kiss Goodbye to MS launch in Federation Square last week.  We were delighted with how the day went and the coverage generated (we got the front page of MX on 2 May!) and the photo booth was a really good way of enticing people into our marquee.

Enquiries and donations are now flooding in, we are really being overwhelmed with the support we are getting.

Please pass on our thanks to all the people involved at Little Black Booth who helped to facilitate the photo booth for our launch.”
